Marvel is a small 10 pound, 10 year old boy who is looking for some love! Marvel would do well in a home with children and other dogs of any size. He is very interested in kitties and likes to bark at them, so a cat free home would be best. Marvel is working on his house training. He does very well with his ‘in house’ manners as long as his foster mom and dad are at home but when they leave for work he does have some ‘stress’ accidents sometimes. Like all dachshunds he will need to be confident in his environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience Marvel loves to go for walks and does very well on a leash. He adores car rides and loves to look out the window on trips. Every day is Tongue Out Day for Marvel as he only has 5 lower front teeth which means that cute little tongue hangs out just ready to give kisses! Marvel is full of love and although he has good energy levels his favourite thing is a good snuggle. Marvel loves to sit on a loving lap or cuddle beside an available arm or leg. A true doxie, Marvel’s love of life extends to food and he does a little circle bouncy dance at meal times. This happy happy boy is waiting for his forever family to come for him in a loving foster home in Texas. Why not apply to adopt this little boy today?

Clark has joined the GetALong Dachshund Rescue family while he waits for his forever home. Clark is a handsome 13 year old boy who weighs 14 pounds and is safe in a loving foster home in Texas. Clark is a submissive boy who is blind and mostly deaf. He would like a home that will give him love and assurance. Clark loves to sleep in his own dog bed but also likes a good snuggle too. Despite his vision loss, Clark is an independent boy and does very in most situations. When Clark came into rescue he was emaciated and his health had been neglected. His teeth were in terrible condition, and he has had to have most of them removed. He also has a fistula (hole) in his mouth that should be monitored for food stuck in tit. Surprisingly, Clark still seems to be able to eat anything his little heart desires with no problems. Clark is house trained and will ask to go outside when he needs to but like all dachshunds he will need to be confident in his environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience is important. Clark likes other dogs and would do well in home with children 13 years or older who understand the need to be gentle with him. Clark is a talker! Little moans and and grunts to let his foster mom know he needs help or wants some love! Clark knows how to get what he needs. This happy senior fellow is searching for a home to spend his retirement years in. Wouldn’t you love to have this charming dachshund join your family?

Hey there! My name is Annabelle. I am a spunky, older lady. I am about 12 years old and I weigh 14 pounds but I have plenty of energy and spunk left! I mean, heck, I was found and taken in by a vet’s office because I was out playing in traffic even though my back legs didn’t work! It’s all good now though. They took me into the office and I hadn’t been hit by a car or anything. Even without full leg function I was too spry for that! I just had a little bout of IVDD like a lot of my Dachshund friends. With some time and care I was back up and running in no time. You might still notice a little hitch in my step, but I get around just fine. I do need to live somewhere I don’t have to deal with stairs though. I should never jump on or off of furniture either. That would really help me a lot! It would be better if I wasn’t in a home with small children either. Oh, I also don’t have any teeth. Jealous? Doesn’t slow my eating down any, I promise you that! My foster family wets my kibble to make it easier for me to eat. Man do I have them trained… Teeth or no teeth one of my favorite things to do is chew on this deer antler at my foster family’s house. Feels great! I don’t mind if you humans take my antler (or my food) but I do NOT like my foster brothers and sisters to try it. IT’S MINE! I don’t care if I have teeth or not my little rambunctious foster brother… I shall challenge you to a duel! Of course, this means I do fine with other dogs, but I do have to be watched if there’s food or treats or a dog bed I really like laying around. I will claim them and I’ll let all the other dogs know! I do GRRRR sometimes at my foster kitty sibling but she walks off and ignores silly me. Yeah I can be a little dominant, especially with other dominant ladies, but I do like the boys, unless they’re trying to take my food. Just sayin’ that’s off limits fellas. I would like home where there are boy doggies or a girl who isn’t bossy like I am. I am getting better at letting my foster family know when I need to go outside. Like all dachshunds I need to be confident in my home to have good potty habits. All us rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so please be understanding and patient with me? I am great in my crate. I love my crate! Again, I have this family so wrapped around my finger. I have my own orthopaedic bed in my crate, with some blankets. It’s no wonder I don’t want anyone else to go in there! I do like sleeping in the big bed of course, but I do just fine in my own space as long as I know where my family is! I am quite happy that way. I love to just hang out on my dog bed under a blanket while you watch TV. Well, unless you’re having pizza. If I smell pizza it’s like I can’t help myself. I’m going to ask you for some of it. I am going to bounce around, whine, scratch at your leg, and generally do what it takes to get some of the yummy stuff! Anyway, I’m happy to hang out with my foster family for a while. They’re pretty cool, but I would love a place of my own. Interested in hooking an old lady up? I promise I’m entertaining! Love Annabelle Annabelle absolutely a sweetheart. She loves people and she’s a little clown. She shows off when new people come over. Loves to roll on her back on the carpet while grunting at everyone. This wonderful girl is just waiting for a chance for a forever home in her foster home in North Carolina. Is she the one for you ?

Meet Rusty! Rusty is a tiny 10 pound, 9 year old dachshund. We believe one of Rusty’s parent’s was wire hair dachshund and the other other parent was a long hair dachshund giving him his unique coat! Rusty is is house trained but like all dachshunds he will need to be confident in his environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience is important. Rusty is also crate trained. Rusty gets along with everyone! He enjoys the company of other dogs, kitties, and people of all ages. Rusty would like a home where he could be a lap dog and spend lots of cuddle time. Rusty is such good boy! When his foster mom tells him that it is bed time he jumps right up and runs to his crate to go to sleep for the night. He is happy and easy going and adjusts quickly to new situations and surroundings. Rusty appears to have some allergies and licks his feet from time to time. He needs a good quality food and his new family to be careful with his diet. Rusty is a fun loving guy! He can break the speed of light when it comes to beating you in to sit in the chair with you especially if there is a blanket involved. He does a very cute happy dance when it comes to treats and meal time. Rusty needs a secure yard as he is very curious about any gaps or holes where he might find new adventures. His foster mom watches him closely in his foster home in Alabama. Rusty is waiting for his own special loving home. Is it with you?

GetALong Dachshund Rescue is proud to present Hollie. This sweet girl is 12 years old, spunky, and yet easy going. A perfect 13 pound little gal who finds joy in everything, she is very sweet, gentle, well behaved. Hollie is house trained but like all dachshunds she will need to be confident in her environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience is important. Hollie came into rescue while undergoing an episode of IVDD, and although well recovered, it is important that Hollie not be allowed to jump off and on furniture nor use stairs. Hollie is perfectly fine having limited (but monitored!) run of the house for a few hours a day, but it is best she be confined to an area with carpeting so she won't slip or in a crate. Hollie loves being walked, and gets VERY excited about sniffing things and exploring her environment. She is crate trained, and LOVES her crate (with her toys) Hollie gets along fine with other dogs and cats but people are her favourite companions and cuddle mates. Hollie knows a few basic commands and will ‘sit’ on command. This beautiful senior girl is searching for a home to spend her days with love and joy. She is waiting just for you!

She LOVES to eat and needs to be fed only at meal time. She will grrrrr a little bit if another dog approaches her food dish so it would be best to feed her apart from any other dogs in the home. Casey is crate trained and dog door trained. She is house trained, but does not seem to like to go potty on the grass. Like all dachshunds she will need to be confident in her environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience is important. She loves having toys and playing ball from time to time. She is not fond of giving her toys back though, so don't ask! Ha! Mandy's all time favorite activity is lounging on the recliner with a human. Miss Mandy won't get up on the recliner if you don't sit down, so take a load off and relaaax. Mandy is crate trained. A clever girl, she knows the word 'bed' and gladly will go to her crate. She will sleep 8-10 hours at night. During the day she goes through not one, but two doggie doors to go potty. She has never had an accident in her foster home in Alabama. She is currently cohabiting with 3 other dachshunds. She has not been cat tested and is a great watch dog. Ask UPS! Mandy walks well on a leash and is a great car rider. Due to her diet of special dog food, Mandy is fed separately. During the day she likes to follow her foster mom from room to room until she wears herself out and heads for a nap. Mandy would prefer to be homed with older children that would be gentle and not steal her toys. Mandy would love to join you on the recliner and become your permanent leg warmer. Apply today!
